Evidence of Effective Teaching

Quantitative student feedback

Below is a table summarizing quantitative feedback I’ve received while teaching. Questions are as follows:

  1. Instructor Knowledge: “My instructor was knowledgeable about the course.”
  2. Instructor enthusiasm: “My instructor was enthusiastic about the course.”
  3. Instructor preparedness: “My instructor was prepared for the course.”
  4. Instructor was helpful: “My instructor was helpful throughout the course.”
  5. Instructor was good: “Overall, I would say my instructor was ‘good’.”
  6. Course was good: “Overall, I would say this course was ‘good’.”

All questions were rated on a 1-5 (strongly disagree to strongly agree) scale. All quantitative data was provided anonymously.

Qualitative student feedback

Below, I’ve included several, anonymous comments from students that I find reflect my teaching well. I do recognize that anonymous feedback cannot truly be corroborated, but I honestly could not be bothered to create fake feedback for myself (and I have impostor syndrome pretty hardcore).

PSY 652 - Graduate statistics in psychology laboratory; Fall 2025

She was always helpful and made sure to give us tips on possible areas we could get stuck.

She was always present and prepared. Answered questions fully and was very nice!

Really cares about the students and about being a helpful resource.

PSY 4523- Cognitive psychology laboratory; Fall 2024

Haley is the BEST EVER!! she is so kind, funny, and understanding!!

Haley was such a joy to have as an instructor. She was so enthusiastic and funny which made me want to come to lab. I think she has a really good energy.

PSY 453 - Cognitive psychology laboratory; Spring 2025

I heard other classes didn’t have the same vibe so just ensuring that the environment is friendly and open. I think that is part of what made it so fun!
